Moving an employer to another account

  • Modified on: Mon, 13 Jul, 2026 at 3:04 PM

You can move an employer from one Celery account to another. All history moves along with it.

What it costs: a one-time fee of USD 75 (excluding VAT). We charge this to the account that receives the employer.

Which situation applies to you?

  1. You want to do payroll yourself. Your payroll is now handled by a Payroll Service Provider (PSP), and you want to take over.
  2. You are switching to a different PSP. Your data moves from one PSP's account to another.
  3. You are moving to a PSP. You have your own account and want a PSP to take over your payroll.

What we need from you

  • Situation 1 or 2 (you are now under a PSP):
We need an email from your current PSP. In it, they give Celery permission to move your data - either to your own account (situation 1) or to the new PSP (situation 2).
  • Situation 3 (you have your own account):
We only need an email from you asking us to move the data to the PSP. Please put a contact person from the PSP in the CC.

What happens next

  • Situation 2 and 3: As soon as we receive the email, we start the transfer.
  • Situation 1: You first need your own account. Here's how:
    1. Create a free account via this link.
    2. Let us know once it's ready. We'll set the pricing to match your agreement.
    3. We'll tell you when you can upgrade your account.
    4. After the upgrade, we move your data from the PSP to your own account.

Good to know

  • Employees and users need new invitations. Because the data moves to a new environment, employee and company user logins in the old account stop working. After the transfer, you need to activate and invite them again. You can invite all employees at once with Bulk Edit. Choose both options: "Change employee user account status" and "Send account invitation".
  • Your old data is not lost. We copy the company to the new account. The old data stays in the old account, but in archived form.
