Why can't I add a wage code as a fixed code for an employee?
Only wage codes that come back every month can be fixed codes. Wage codes that change each time, like overtime or a bonus, are entered in the pay run instead.
Fixed codes vs. variable codes
Fixed codes are paid or deducted every month, for the same amount.
- Example: A monthly travel allowance, or a monthly loan repayment.
- You add these to the employee under Fixed wage codes & taxed fringe benefits.
Variable codes are not the same every month.
- Example: Overtime, or a bonus.
- You enter these while processing the open pay run.
