What "Process as Nil" Does in Payroll

  • Modified on: Fri, 21 Aug, 2026 at 11:53 AM
  • When you select "Process as Nil" for an employee, that employee is taken out of the current payroll run.

  • This tells the system the employee should not be paid wages for this specific pay period — not now, and not later either.
  • No wages will be calculated for this employee.
  • No pay slip will be created for this employee.
  • Use this option when the employee did not work during this period and should not receive any pay for it.

Note: If the employee didn't work this period, but you think they might still need to be paid for it later, don't use "Process as Nil." Instead, choose "Process Later" — this keeps the option open to pay them for this period afterward.
