How do I make a wage code that takes an amount of my choice off the gross wages?

The easiest way is to make a copy of an existing wage code and change a few settings. In Celery, making a copy is called duplicating.

Step 1: Copy wage code 260

Go to Employer and then Wage codes. Find wage code 260 and duplicate it.

Step 2: Give it a new name

Change the name of the copy. Pick a name that makes clear what the wage code is for.

Step 3: Link the general ledger accounts

Link the right general ledger accounts to the new wage code. (General ledger accounts are the accounts in your bookkeeping where these costs are recorded.)

Step 4: Change the percentage

Find the setting "Amount is – hourly wage percentage". Change 100.00% to 0.00%.

Step 5: Use the wage code

You can now enter an amount for this wage code. Celery takes this amount off the gross wages.

Good to know

This amount lowers the wages that tax and premiums are calculated on. So the employee pays less wage tax and fewer premiums.
