Celery Child Allowance Curaçao

Child allowance can be set up when creating the employee, or added or adjusted later.

Adding or adjusting later

1. Go to Employees > employee > Family.

2. Under Children: click Add, or select an existing child to adjust.

3. Enter name, date of birth, and situation as of January 1 (address, education). If the child does not reside with the employee, the allowance does not apply.

4. Go to Taxes and premiums > Edit > Child allowance. Set This allowance is applied to Yes. Celery does not enable this automatically, as it does not know whether this is the primary employer or a second employment; double allocation must be avoided.

5. Save the changes.

Child allowance applies per child, once per child. Exception: in case of single parenthood, the allowance is doubled per child.

Single parenthood

Toggle Single parenthood applies (same screen). If applicable, double child allowance is applied automatically.

Single parenthood applies when the employee:

- is unmarried, and

- has independently (without a partner) maintained a household with the child for at least one year, and

- has supported and raised the child at their own expense during that year.

Category classification

Children younger than 16 who belong to the household fall under category IV. Children aged 16 through 26 who are studying fall under category I, II, or III (depending on the education location: abroad, Curaçao, or other education).

Note on an open run

If the child was added or changed while an open run was already in progress, the change is not automatically included. Via Update fixed data, the change can still be included in the ongoing run.

Finding it on the payslip and reporting

The applied child allowance can be found at the bottom of the payslip, under Fiscal allowances, and the cumulative child allowance for the year on the wage tax card/annual statement, as the basis for the employee's income tax filing.
