BES – How to Configure the PCN Pension Scheme in Celery
The PCN (Pensioenfonds Caribisch Nederland) pension scheme is mandatory for employers affiliated with PCN on the BES islands (Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba). This article explains how to set up the PCN pension scheme correctly in Celery.
Step 1 — Create the pension scheme
Go to: Employer → Pension → Pension Schemes → Add new scheme.
Use the following settings:
| Reserve pension as | Percentage |
| Employee percentage | 10% |
| Employer percentage | 20% |
| Minimum per year | 0 |
| Maximum per year | 59,750 |
| Apply maximum | Before franchise |
| Apply part-time percentage | Yes |
| Plan ends after age | 65 |
| Start plan immediately | Yes |
| In payment file | No |
| Show balance on payslip | No |
| Amounts based on | Only fixed salary |
| Include vacation allowance | Yes |
| Include 13th month payment | No |
| Franchise type | AOV franchise |

| Base amount factor (monthly) | 12 |
| Base amount factor (bi-monthly) | 26 |
| Book employer contribution on | Wage code 580 |
| Book total premium on | Wage code 590 |
Step 2 — Set the franchise per employee and employer
After creating the scheme, set the AOV franchise amount for both the employee and the employer. The 2026 franchise is USD 29,280 per year.
Step 3 — Link employees to the scheme
Go to the pension scheme and add all employees who are subject to PCN. You can add employees one by one or all at once.
Important: employees whose pensionable salary is below the franchise (USD 29,280 per year / USD 2,440 per month) are not subject to PCN contributions. Celery will automatically calculate no premium for these employees.
