Why is the wage tax in Celery a little different from the Monthly Wage Tax Table?

Yes, this can happen. You’ll see it most often in payrolls for Curaçao and Sint Maarten.

Here’s why:

  • Celery doesn’t use the monthly table.
  • Instead, Celery works out the tax using the yearly income tax table.
  • Because of this, the amount can differ by a few cents, or sometimes a few guilders.

Do you need to worry? No. The difference is very small. It will not lead to extra tax bills or penalties from the tax office.
